Memorial Day: Freedom Never Cries

26 05 2008

“Soldier, rest,
thy warfare o’er,

Dream of
fighting fields
no more.
Sleep the sleep
that knows
not breaking,
Morn of toil,
nor night of waking.”

- Sir Walter Scott

Today is Memorial Day. Originally a local memorial for veterans of the War Between the States observed as early as 1864, it has evolved into a national holiday to honor the memory of all US veterans of every war. The US is presently engaged in Operating Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and the Global War on Terror. May this video, featuring Five for Fighting’s Freedom Never Cries, cause you to remember the sacrifices made by the members of our armed forces.

I was in the Army in 66-68 stationed at Dachau, Germany and then served in the Church of God’s Ministry to the Military from 1974-1986 in Turkey, Italy and Germany.
The greatest men in the world are in our military. They are the best!

Enjoyed the video. Thanks!

Here’s the video that the artist (John Ondrasik of “Five for Fighting” ) put together for this song. It features Medal of Honor recipient, Fred Ferguson, as the pawn shop owner and former Marine and actor, Michael Broderick, as the young man.
