China Aid Association reports that the Chinese government placed two house church leaders, Hua Huiqui and Liu Fenggang, under house arrest on October 1. The homes of the leaders were each surrounded by two dozen Public Security Bureau (PSB) officers. Ind
ividuals were prevented from either entering or leaving the home of Hua Huiqui. On October 3, eight PSB officers broke the bedroom windows of the Huiqi’s home and turned off their electricity. Huiqi was released from prison in July after serving six months and Fenggang was released from prison in February after serving for three years. Huiqi’s seventy-seven-year-old mother, Shuang Shuying, is still serving her two-year sentence. She was recently beaten severely and is now dying in her prison cell. It is expected that Christians will face rising persecution prior to the 2008 Olympics.
What kind of response would you have to the communist police if you were Hua Huiqi? You may read his response and request for prayer here.
